Results of the Pre-New Year SILA CLUB Meeting: Organizational Structure Management

On December 18, a special pre-New Year meeting of SILA CLUB took place—a community of professionals in process management, corporate architecture, and digital transformation. During these meetings, club members discuss process management challenges and explore solutions for various industries. This time, the central topic of discussion was "Organizational Structure Management."

Organizational structure is established based on a company’s goals and distributes functions and responsibilities among organizational units. SILA Union is a key tool for designing and managing organizational structures, addressing tasks such as creating a unified catalog of organizational models, collaborative development of structure models, shared access to up-to-date company data, comprehensive data design, and more.

Alexander Lapeto, Head of Business Process Improvement and Modeling at LUKOIL-Technology, presented a case on enterprise organizational development and the use of SILA Union tools. He discussed role model development and job description creation within the framework of business process modeling and its subsequent standardization in SILA Union. The role design process included organizational structure formation, job descriptions, training plans, and continuous employee evaluation and support.

The meeting continued with a presentation by Eduard Ishkhanov, a SILA Union expert, who expanded on organizational structure modeling and integration with HR management systems. He explained that SILA Union allows both retrieving and transmitting process-related data to other systems, including HR platforms. A key topic was automated regulatory document generation within SILA Union, which allows for detailed organizational structure documentation. The system not only outlines organizational units and their relationships but also attributes such as grades, employment status, competency requirements, delegation, job responsibilities, employee rights, compensation, and more. This ensures comprehensive documentation with minimal manual input.

The event concluded with a presentation by Igor Lozovitsky, head of Lozovitskiy.ru, business consultant, PhD, and associate professor. He emphasized that process management implementation is impossible without the establishment of a "process owner institution." One of the key challenges in building a process management system is defining the authority and responsibility of process owners. He highlighted the distinction between a manager and a highly skilled specialist: while a manager may not be an expert in the technical details of a process, they must be able to assign tasks, determine key execution methods, and take full responsibility for results. In the context of process and project management models, a process owner standardizes, regulates, and optimizes, whereas a project manager develops new solutions. The art of process management lies in achieving results through the efforts of others.

We thank all participants for their engagement, activity, and insightful questions. We look forward to seeing you at SILA CLUB events in 2025!
